Methods Used to Identify Quality Measures for Consideration
The National Quality Measures Clearinghouse (NQMC), sponsored by the
Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), U.S. Department of Health and
Human Services, uses a range of methods to identify and collect measures for
consideration against its inclusion criteria. These include:
- AHRQ's notice in the
Federal Register inviting measure developers
to submit their measures for consideration
- Periodic mailings to measure developers
- Iterative searches of the literature using resources such as:
- the National Library of Medicine's Medline, HealthSTAR, HSRProj, and DIRLINE databases;
- the Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL®) database;
- the American Psychological Association's PsycInfo® and PsycLit® databases;
- the World Wide Web.
- Hand-searches of primary and secondary literature sources
- Suggestions from NQMC users (i.e., suggestions received via e-mail at
info@qualitymeasures.ahrq.gov
or webmanager@qualitymeasures.ahrq.gov)
NQMC Inclusion Criteria
Each measure that is submitted to NQMC is reviewed against a standard set of
Inclusion Criteria.
