How to Search - Detailed Search

The National Quality Measures Clearinghouse™ (NQMC), sponsored by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, provides you with a more focused method of searching for quality measures via the Detailed Search page. Here you can enter words or phrases in the appropriate query box(es). You may also use the various pull-down lists provided to specify additional search criteria and/or limit your search. Using different query boxes and/or pull-down lists "focuses" your search and increases the precision of your results. Note that it is not necessary to fill in all the options, only those that are needed for your search.

Entering/selecting your criteria

The Detailed Search contains several ways to enter or select terms, including:

Query boxes into which you enter terms or phrases

Pull-down lists from which you may select one or more values

Multi-select boxes from which you may select one or more values

Note: Entering or selecting two or more different criteria will automatically join the criteria together, creating a narrower search.

For example: Entering the word "diabetes" into the Disease/Condition query box and selecting the Care Setting "Ambulatory Care" will search for all measures related to "diabetes" AND "Ambulatory Care".

What is searched?

Disease/Condition query box	Limits the search for a disease/condition concept(s) (see concept mapping).
Treatment/Intervention query box	Limits the search for a treatment/intervention concept(s) (see concept mapping).
Age Range multi-select box	Limits the search for an age range for the population measured (e.g., Adolescent: 13-18 years old).
Gender single-select box	Limits the search for a target population by gender (e.g., Either male or female; male only).
Vulnerable Populations multi-select box	Limits the search for populations vulnerable to health care quality problems that are separately identified for sampling (e.g., Children; Homeless; Minority Groups).
Care Setting multi-select box	Limits the search for setting(s) for which the measure applies (e.g., Home Care; Hospitals).
Professinals Responsible for Health Care multi-select box	Limits the search for professional(s) who is/are responsible for health care (e.g., Advanced Practice Nurses; Physicians).
Lowest Level of Health Care Delivery multi-select box	Limits the search for the most discrete level of health care delivery to which the measure applies (e.g., National; Single Health Care Delivery Organizations).
Current Use multi-select box	Limits the serach for the current use(s) of the measure by quality initiative and constituency (e.g., Accreditation; Internal Quality Improvement).
Data Source multi-select box	Limits the serach for a data source(s) necessary to implement the measure (e.g., Administrative Data; Medical Record).
IOM Care Need single-select box	Limits the search for a particular IOM care need category (e.g., End of Life Care; Getting Better; Living with Illness; Staying Healthy).
IOM Domain multi-select box	Limits the search for a particular IOM domain (e.g., Effectiveness; Patient-centeredness; Safety; Timeliness).
Measure Domain single-select box	Limits the search for the major focus of the measure by a particular primary measure domain of care (e.g., Access; Outcome; Patient Experience; Process; Structure).
Endorser multi-select box	Limits the serach for a particular organization that has endorsed the measure (e.g., National Quality Forum [NQF]).
Included In multi-select box	Limits the search for the inclusion of a measure in specified measure initiatives (e.g., National Healthcare Quality Report, National Healthcare Disparities Report, Home Health Compare).
Publication multi-select box	Limits the search for the publication date of the measure.

Note: The values contained in the multi-select boxes or pull-down lists available in the Detailed Search correspond to the Classification Scheme.
